I'M COMING BACK!!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much, if you want any updates, visit my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/markgreenart or check out my Instagram page @markgreenart (images can be seen at http://www.enjoygram.com/markgreenart). I will update this blog, I've got so much going on at present it's unreal!! Lady Bay Art Festival is next weekend so currently trying to prepare for that then I can focus on getting this blog all up to date with everything I've done since graduating from uni.

All up to date and new things to look forward to

FINALLY!! It's done. My degree is done. My blog is up to date. And it's been a sunny weekend!!

So, yes my degree is over and I passed. Go me! I graduate in less than 2 weeks so I will then officially be Mark Green BA Hons. Pretty awesome.

On this very lazy Sunday, I have managed to upload a load of photos from the past year, my last at uni.It gives an insight in to what I've been interested in and ways in which my work has developed. It's been one of the hardest years for me, artistically and personally, and all the hard work I've put in has been worth every moment of earning my degree. It still hasn't hit me that I've actually passed, it will probably happen on the day of my graduation.

Anyway, I haven't got any exhibitions lined up at the moment. I've been relaxing since the degree show finished...well, I've been taking a break from art, I'm now doing a 9-5.30 job, not fun. I feel like I've needed this break to recharge the batteries.

I'm now ready to get back in to it all now.

Although I haven't been making, there have been some exciting things happening. This past Thursday, my piece 'Frankenbird' was part of an auction at Primary art studios. I have also signed a six month contract with Bohunk Gallery where myself along with about 12 other Fine Art graduates (still waiting on full details) will be sharing an art space together. This is something I can't wait to start. I'm not sure if it's official, but our collective is called Guild (I need to confirm this!). Whatever the name is, I'm excited and it will be great to start creating again. I want to get back in to creating more 2D, I've missed it over the past year and a half. It also means I can store my art supplies somewhere rather than my house....it takes up waaaaaaay too much space!! I can experiment more and I don't have to worry about explaining it in detail to accompany a piece of work! That aside, I will miss uni, I've learnt so much and met fantastic people.

So my next task is to create a Facebook page dedicated to my work. I'm also going to be going through a number of previous works, 2D and 3D and putting them up for sale in various places. If anyone is ever interested in buying any work from me, please feel free to contact me by emailing markwgreen@hotmail.co.uk, I'm easy to approach, friendly, a Libra, about 5' 10"......but more to the point, most of the work shown on this blog is available to buy.

I'll leave it there as I'm sure I've rambled on enough. It's only because I'm having a great time and happy that I've managed to completely update my blog with my work (I still need to write a statement really but my blog, my rules!). I'm going to crack open another beer and listen to some Dethklok (check them out, it's a must!)

So much happening and Lady Bay Arts Festival begins today!

Hello everyone

I know, I know, I said I would keep more up to date with my blog but I've had a degree to work for!!! Some big news though is that as of Wednesday 15th May at 4pm, I AM NOW OFFICIALLY FINISHED!!! I can't believe it. I moved to Nottingham to specifically attend Nottingham Trent Uni to do Fine Art. When I first applied, they turned me down flat, with other universities saying that I should do a Foundation first. So in 2009 I started at South Nottingham College based in Clifton. I think the only reason they accepted me was due to my maturity and enthusiasm.....I only did pencil drawings and shitty paintings....I had no clue!!! If it wasn't for my year at college, I would have died a death and not be where I am today. I learnt so so much.

Doing Fine Art has been awesome. I'm sad to be leaving. Being able to see so many people in the studios creating art and having discussions was great. But all good things come to an end and I'm now on my own...

I'll still be entering exhibitions around Nottingham and hopefully the wider area. Speaking of exhibitions, I've been in 2 since I last posted!!! Now I have a bit more time on my hands, I can try and update this blog the way it should be......when I'm not working or decorating!!

Today and tomorrow is the Lady Bay Arts Festival which starts at 12pm. I'm looking forward to it, I just hope it gets a bit warmer! I really should wrap things up here as I need to get prepared for it, I've got loads to do!! I'll be at venue 2 (I believe!) on Holme Road. It's weird going back to Lady Bay considering I lived there for 2 1/2 years!

Finally, the official Nottingham Trent Degree Show kicks off on 31st May 2013, a chance to see everyone's hard effort on display. I've never seen so much panic, stress and chaos in the lead up to anything!!!

OK, that's it for now, until next time (hopefully sooner rather than later!), stay classy.....blog world!!

I've finally updated 'Exhibition' and 'Artist CV'

Yes, I've found time to add some stuff on here.....only took me about 8 months!! Check out the 'Exhibition' tab and I've added my CV info. I will add more photos soon of the work I have created, I just need to gather all the images up and sort through what's relevant  I've taken a lot of photos in the past 8 months!

Today is the start of a new exhibition at The Classroom Gallery, opposite the train station in Nottingham. it's a proper funky space taking place in...yes, an old classroom! It's on for the next 2 weeks, finishing on 14th March so please go down there and check it out if you get the chance. If you want any more info, just send me a message.

Also, I will be working on a Facebook page for myself, seems like a good idea! It won't have as much insight to the works as this blog does, just plenty of images!!

That's it for now, please stop by more often as it makes me feel good!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack!!

Well......I'm pretty sure it's about time I posted something! I've been dying to update this blog in a long, long time, but I've had so much going on in the last 8 months it's been a tad difficult. And technically, I've still got heaps of shit going on!!

I've got loads of work to put up, exhibitions to talk about, current goings on.....life is mental in the world of Mark!! When I have more time, I will get photos up on here (I promise!!) but for now I have work to do (as is always the case!)
I will mention that I will be taking part in the Lady Bay Arts Festival again this year over the weekend of 18th/19th May. I'll be displaying and selling some of my melted works, but more details will follow. Last year's was awesome....so awesome, I apparently had about 8 months away from reporting anything on my blog! When I've got more time, I'll write a little about it (better late than never!) and about a few other exhibitions I've been in.

For now, I leave you with one of my favourite songs at this point in time, 'Risk' by Deftones. I'm going to be seeing them in less than 2 weeks and I am more than a little excited!!

Speak to you soon...

Ready For The Weekend

Hi again!

Proper psyched for the weekend I am!!! The work (Praise The Lord!) will be displayed in a different way from how I exhibited it last year. I tested it out this past Sunday with help from my Dad (thanks Dad!) and the whole set up looks awesome. I don't want to give anything away, for a first glimpse of it, I guess you'll just have to attend the festival on Saturday and/or Sunday!! Find below a list of all the artists and where they will be exhibiting:

I'm going to be selling some mini zines to accompany the work which I'll be selling for a cheap £1 so pick one up as I don't know whether I'll be selling these again.

Busy busy times. Bring on the weekend - family, friends and if you're interested come check these guys out at The Old Angel in Nottingham, they're playing this Saturday night so I'll be heading to it after I've finished for the day. They are the one and only Komatyzed! (be warned the video may include naughty words!)
